..apparently some people were disappointed after queueing for ages but myself and sisters arrived after everyone had dispersed so did not queue all...I probably wouldn't have queued anyway(unless it was a teeny little queue) :)

I can't resist a bargain either.
I usually buy the "girls" their Xmas Baileys Irish Cream on double discount day at the supermarket but there was an offer on from £14 down to £9 so I bought them there and then as they will be back to full price on double discount day and i'd only gain an extra 10% :)

Just been down there myself to get lunch things - Sarah loves their potato salad, sweet yellow tomatoes and their crispy bacon.

Noticed the swiss chocs are on half price and lots of good deals on Christmas biccies so bought loads for pressies.

I am a sucker for a bargain.

It was only introduced to celebrate their 125th birthday. It was a mock-up of the original Penny Bazaar.

We got there too late(about 10.30 a.m)!all sale stock for the day had gone.
Apparently the queues formed before 8.am and spread all the way down Briggate :))

I thought that too when I read that the tickets for the 'Teetotal Soiree' in 1842(as published in poster)were also a shilling!!!!...a lot of money in those days :yes:

Fine china has a feel and charm all of its own, I love it. I enjoy porcelain if a simple shape,or even interestingly designed. As for thick mugs pretending to be something they're not, that's another story. :roll:

I had a white mug with coffee in it today, in a store...wished I hadn't. Might have survived it, if the contents had been decent.

I too now enjoy and understand the refinement of sipping my drinks as I find it hard to drink any other way nowadays ...and tea is much better in a china teacup than a nasty thick mug! :)

Whatever your reasons were for clicking over to a more abstemious way of life, one thing your enjoyment did not appear to do, was to deeply addict you. Habits and addictions are two very different animals. You had the personal strength to vary your habits and change them.

I have never wanted large glasses of anything, not even water. It is much more manageable and enjoyable, for me, to sip from fine small containers, with interesting shapes, designs and so on.
