  • I need cheering up

I haven't felt like blogging much this week as I still don't feel too good with congestion and general malaise...my condition is not bad enough to incapacitate me but yet I don't feel like doing much:no:
There have been lots of thoughts running through my head but nothing I consider worth putting down on paper..which is the usual case with me anyway but it doesn't normally stop me posting ...maybe my blog shelf life is nearing its sell by date..I don't know....and then i've been having bad dreams about death..it was awful..in my dream I kept opening my kitchen cupboard and there i'd find a dead body lying across the shelf ...Gawd knows what the dream analysts would make of that U-(

A couple of weeks ago I nabbed some bargain Ryanair flights to Nimes for t'old man and myself...it seemed like a good idea at the time but when it came to organising the transport to the airport and the accommodation in Nimes things didn't seem quite so amenable.
Apart from finding that all the best accommodation was fully booked due to it being Nimes feria week (I did finally manage to book a hotel a couple of Kilometers from the centre) and the fact that we would have to check-in at the unearthly hour of 4.30am has created within me an uneasy sense of foreboding.
I keep telling myself that these things aren't a problem (and I know they're not) but yet I still can't muster up any enthusiam, which is totally out of character for me .
Hopefully when I get the bags out in a day or two (hand luggage only) then my zest will return:**:

OK...that's it for now..gotta get the laughing gas out and go browse around blogland for a while.

  • open cups

I stepped out my front door early this afternoon and noticed these open cupped tulips in the ground by the side of my step..."Wait" I said to kathy who had pulled up in her car to take me to Shipley for a Tribal dance workshop (they of the scary faces fame), "i'll have to take photos of these before the petals drop off".

    open-cup-tulipsopen-cup-tulip

We had a good three hour workshop and I wondered if I would be up to it as my chest still feels congested and a little tight but it was good as we did lots of stretching and deep breathing for a warm-up..must have done me good

  • the trials and tribulations of a reluctant housewife

I was doing a spot of spring cleaning this morning and with difficulty dragged the heavy bed head away from the wall,  I was surprised by the amount of dust that had accumulated behind there since the last time I had pulled it out

I cleaned the skirting boards before taking a wet cloth to it then I got the hoover out only to find it was chocka block full and needed emptying (humph t'old man never empties it!).  Then as I was emptying it clouds of dust blew into my face and then suddenly  I felt a pain in my chest.
At first I thought I might have strained a muscle through moving the bed but realised that I felt congested too so I wondered if  it could be a reaction to dust mites.

When I worked in the bakery four years ago I was diagnosed by the Doctor as suffering from mild asthma..I poo poo this idea as my eldest daughter has suffered from asthma since childhood and it wasn't anything like  that and besides the inhalers they gave me didn't do any good..I did have a tight chest though.
At the time t'old man suggested to me that it could be a reaction to the airborne flour in the bakery but I carried on regardless.

A few months after I left the bakery my symptoms subsided ( I got an arthritic hip instead ) so perhaps there was something in his theory after all.  Well the top and bottom of it is...that in a few weeks time I will be working in the bakery  again although for only six hours a week so hopefully I won't be affected

In the mean-time i've still got a tightness in my chest and I can't clear my throat.
    The bedroom looks sparkling though

  • Adios Lonemum

Lonemum has been sad for the last day or two..not least because she has had "words" with her daughter Tinks.
I went to reply to a comment I had made on her blog and discovered she has torched it..not just her blog like before but her profile as well.
I'd just like to say that I do understand and I know you've felt like doing it for quite a while but I hate the thought of you having done it while you were feeling sad :(
Tomorrow will be OK so when you decide to re-incarnate yourself be sure to let us know and if you don't ever come back to blog then, when all is good, and Tinks has come up trumps and you are flying high then send an email to let us know .

We will miss you but you had to do what you had to do xx

  • doramail did it for me

B.C.U.K have suggested opening an email account with a smaller provider as there does not seem to be a quick fix to the problem with the hotmail accounts.
I changed to a Gmail account the other day but still received no notifications of comments ..so.. although I didn't really want another email account, I thought "why not give it a go"
Soooo...who should I change to? for this email account was to be created especially and only for my blog comments:??:
I put in a search for email providers and scrolled down a list..I was stabbing in the dark as I haven't a clue if one is better than the other, so in the end I did as I do when I put a bet on the Derby or the Grand National and just choose an appropriate name...and there it was :))
................ doramail.com..............just the job 'cos I "isAdora" you know :P
Apparently there is some connection with Doraemon fans but what the heck i'll pretend I am one :D

and guess what..it works..I received my first comment notification in almost five days today...Well done DORAMAIL and thanks blog.co.uk for trying to resolve the problem..I don't get floods of comments but I was missing receiving the ones I do!

  • It's only a bracket and a blind

The nice chinese lady at the Tai-chi class came over to me in class and took my extended arm and said to me " We're not doing Karate or Kung Fu  in Tai Chi we do gentle flowing movements and your arm is moving as if you are going to chop some-one's head off :))
Little did she know that I had spent the previous hour helping t'old man affix some brackets and attach new venetian blinds to the box room window. Honestly..the fuss he made..you'd have thought it was a serious military operation the performance he was making
I settled into my flowing movements eventually and the tension subsided..and t'old man? well he destressed by going to the pub...peace all round then

I received all my comment notifications on the 20th April but haven't received any since so can someone send a comment or two so I can check if they are still being delivered...cheers.

  • You might have seen this before

How to keep an idiot busy

    http://www.pagetutor.com/idiot/idiot.html

    It took me a while;)

  • Apathy setting in

Apparently, Metro our local transport authority have proudly announced on their web-site that they have sent out 250,000 of the new concessionary bus passes...this being six weeks after they were initially due to be introduced.

T'old man duly filled in his application form and affixed his photo last October when he was required to do so... so "why oh why" I asked, has his not arrived

"I'm not too fussed" was t'old man's response when I mentioned it to him " I can still use my old one 'til September"
"That's only because they haven't managed to get the new passes out in time" I had to remind him  "and besides the web-site says that all the passes have now been sent"
After much nagging and gesticulating I persuaded him to phone the Metro help-line ( honestly the sloveness of the fella;) ) where he discovered that they had on file that his  pass had been sent out a while ago...they reckon it must have got lost in the post ..a replacement one has now been ordered.

"There you go"  I said "if you hadn't enquired you would probably never have received it....Woe betide them, i'll be knocking on the  Leeds bus travel centre's door if I don't get mine in time for my 60th birthday as it is going to be extremely useful, what with me not being a driver and all

It's another six months until i'm eligible for the free bus pass which is about the same amount of time that t'old man's application has been in the pipe-line so perhaps I should apply now!!

Oh and the 'post title' is because i've been feeling a bit like that of late :))

  • Two days of a weekend

I had a fabulous day yesterday . My friend Kathy and myself spent the day at Saltaire for the 'JOY' belly dancing event.
I tried a drumming workshop and a dance workshop with a lovely liverpudlian teacher (Caroline Afifi). In the evening there was a concert performance with lots of well known British and international dancers.
    It was superb.
I have to go to do my 'one day' a week shift at the supermarket now so I can't elaborate more...if any of my photos are any good then I may post one or two later.
    Have a good day Y'all!

  • The old routine and running water

Back into the old routine again...I attended the U3A self help spanish language group this morning and Kathy's dance class this afternoon...
I have also started attending an exercise class on Tuesday mornings which is loosely based around Tai Chi.
It is a free class at the church hall for ladies over 55.
I am once again the youngest in the group (getting to be a habit ) but nevertheless it is very friendly and at least I get some exercise.
The nice lady teacher is very gentle with us as there are quite a few more senior and not so supple pensioners in attendance.
After the warm up, the lady teacher put on some pleasant music, it started with the ripple of water and the sound of a running stream before it progressed into a melodic chinese instrumental.
Five minutes into the music a sizeable number of the OAP's excused themself and went to the loo...not exactly the desired effect the teacher had in mind :))

The sound of the water on the CD reminded me of a minivid I shot last year in the grounds of El Molino in Valladolid, it is one minute and fifty five seconds long...See how much you can watch before you feel the need to go ;)

  • So sad

As the news has just broken that Karen Matthews has been charged with perverting the course of justice and also a second charge of child neglect I despair, especially as I don't live too far away from the areas involved!!
What on earth will that little girl think when she gets older.

I see lots of "Matthews" type families coming throught the supermarket doors.. .you just don't know what is going on in their minds..do you?

"Of course a person is innocent until proved guilty"

  • Why can't a man be more like a woman?

This is not a medical miracle or some breakthrough in science.
Thomas(ina) Beatie is a woman who has chosen to live as a man who is having a child.
A woman having a child is something that happens every second of every day, that in itself is a miracle yet no-one outside a person's immediate family gets overly excited about that, so what's the big deal? this is just one more in a multitude of women.

Maybe s/he does have a strong male identity after taking testosterone treatments and having breast surgery to remove glands and flatten his/her chest but still it doesn't seem to me to be much different from two lesbians deciding to start a family, after all the female reproductive organs s/he was born with were kept in tact and not removed.
The couple will be probably be responsible and loving parents but all this hype about the first pregnant male

A big fuss about nothing if you ask me.

  • I'm playing..inspired by faffa

Inspired by Faffajane who is possibly spending quality time on blog this afternoon and she really is
    "Turning up the volume"
.. so I have attempted to set myself up another little blog on here.
As I founder member I am allowed to have five blogs without going pro but I never thought I needed them (probably don't) but what the heck...it is a good way of filling in free time :)

  • MY Mother's day gift

Last mother's day Lulu fetched me a small basket of compost showing shoots and small flower buds from the four bulbs of hyacinths therein.
The plants weren't that large and as we were going away for almost two weeks we left it unattended after giving them a reasonable watering.
When we arrived back a couple of weeks ago a sizable closed flower bud had grown but as I have been fairly busy I fear I have neglected them and left them to their own devices little knowing that they would way outgrow their little basket home.
I took these photos today where they sit on the kitchen windowsill.

I hope they grow this big next year when they will have been replanted and given pride of place in the front garden :D

  • False legs for sale

I recently posted a holiday snapshot on the Photography Blog, of a stall in Granada that sold aromatic spices
    HERE

I then got to thinking that I have a tendency for taking pictures of items on stalls of a varying nature.
This pic was taken last month on the street outside Murcia market hall.

What a fab collection of stockings and/or tights to rummage through:-/

  • Happy Birthday Marika Sunseeker

I meant to send a strippergram along on your 50th birthday but somehow he got lost, so now two years later here's a 'nice boy' to compensate.
    Have Fun xx
