  • Let's smile

Let's lighten up a bit with a few computer jokes.
I don't know how long these have been around so apologies if you've seen them before.

What have I been up to this last week?...

Well, I went to work last weekend and am primed up to go again tomorrow.... interestingly I heard on breakfast TV today that A**a are piloting a scheme in certain store car parks where they are introducing a fines system aimed at stopping non disabled customers abusing the disabled spaces, as everyone knows there is no respect for the disabled to whom these spaces are allocated and are most frequently used by people stopping to use the ATM machines which are located very close by.
I am constantly getting irate customers approaching me and bitterly complaining at the amount of cars parked there without the appropriate badge/sticker displayed. Unfortunately there isn't much the average 'Greeter' can do as our porters refuse to approach the rule breakers ever since one got thumped by a rather burly chap and on the occasions that I have gone out to speak to wrongly parked customers I have received lots of verbal abuse. All one can do is refer them to the Customer service desk to complain.
At last head office seems to have heeded the complaints..it's early days yet...we will see how it goes..and it will be curious to see who they employ to issue these fines....all fun and games at the 'OK Corral'
    update
There is an article about the scheme here..

In other news...my ten year passport is due to expire next month so I have hurriedly been organising my renewal. I had some photos taken and was horrified at how much I have appeared to age in the last ten years. From the ages of 30 to 50 I held my age reasonably well but all that seems to have changed now. These photos really show my age as I didn't put much make up on and scraped my hair off my face and didn't smile, in fact it was almost a scowl... even t'old man said it wasn't a true likeness . I decided to use the photos on my new passport anyway 'cos at least it will guarantee the customs officers will recognise me when this next passport runs out..after all I will be nearly 70 then 88|>:XX.
