  • The first in the queue

It was 5 minutes to 10 and the foyer was fairly clear. Then suddenly just before I was due to finish work, a young woman I know who attends my slimming club appeared and enquired as to where the queue for the Harry Potter book was.
She became the first in the queue and as the managers hadn't sorted out where the queue was to be I took the advertising hoard, placed her behind it and said "it starts here".
I clocked out, came back round and a few more had joined the queue.
I took out my camera , took a photo and developed it for her in the self service photo machine. She was well chuffed!!

By the time I had finished my shopping (10.40ish) the queue had grown to about twenty. They will be waiting there now as the books won't be brought out until one min past twelve.
So if you want one get down there quick as the queue must be out the door by now...and it is only a fiver!!

  • yeah, yeah...I know they think he's real!!

The store I work at is a 24 hour store and I usually work 'til 10pm on Friday.
It's rumoured that we will be selling the new Harry Potter book (launched at midnight) for a fiver
As far as I know the supermarket doesn't take advance orders so i'm wondering if there will be any queues forming whilst i'm working.
Gawd, i'll be glad when all the hype surrounding it has quietened down, I know i'm out of touch with kids nowadays and although I admit to not having read any of the Harry Potter books, I can't believe as has been speculated that counseling may be on hand for the children who have been adversely affected by the deaths of some of the charactersU-(

Read on a Harry Potter forum this morning.

"I wonder if they'll set up helplines and stuff, like they did when Take That split up...
I for one am definitely going to need some sort of counselling".

If children are affected to this degree then I vote that all tv programmes and books where characters die should be prohibited, i'm sure we never had this problem when we were kids, didn't the Babes in the Woods die and I recall reading in a book that Jesus was nailed on a cross (and he was the hero) and left to die.
It's all very tragic but I can't recall having nightmares about it.

    Disclaimer:
In the interests of all sensitive emotional children, I in no way ,shape or form am inferring or am wishing for Harry or any of his friends to come to a sticky end.

  • Yucky yukka

After more overnight rain, I looked out my window this morning and wondered if my Yukka had finished flowering. I fear the weather has affected it this year and what with the heavy rains predicted for the next day or two it has probably reached its peak.
